COSMETIC INJECTIONS

Do you want to erase wrinkles and restore volume to your face? Cosmetic Injections are a non-surgical method, is done at our consulting rooms and you’ll walk away with smoother, younger-looking skin. Many different fillers exist in the market and one of the most effective ones used at SCINmed is Hyaluronic Acid Fillers.

Hyaluronic Acid Fillers – These are sterile, clear, Cosmetic Injections gels made of chemically modified hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the fluids surrounding cells and tissues and is common in the skin, cartilage, joints and eyes. In skin tissue, hyaluronic acid fills the space between collagen and elastin fibres. The role of hyaluronic acid in the skin is to deliver nutrients while hydrating the skin by holding in water and acting as a cushioning agent. It is also proven to stimulate the production of collagen and creates a larger volume effect by drawing water close to the particles.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

CONDITIONS

As we grow older, collagen production slows down. Our skin gradually becomes thinner, it loses its underlying fat and with it loses volume, causing it to sag.

As we age, we lose the fullness of our skin and the skin below the mid-face, closer to the nose and mouth, starts to sag and draw closer to the mouth. The result is forming lines from the corners of the mouth towards the chin and unfortunately, it cannot be treated by creams and make-up.

Tiny muscles and tissues weaken around the eye area, the fatty deposits that normally support the eyes start to move down into the lower eyelids, causing a puffy look or bags. This can also be a genetic condition.

Smoking exposes the skin to toxins and breaks down existing collagen. This leads to the loss of the skin’s elasticity and consequent fine lines, wrinkles and sagging. Smoker’s lines are generally around the lips and eye area.

Sunken cheeks are normally caused by the effects ageing has on our skin and fat tissues. With age the skin loses its elasticity, starts to sag and the malar fat pad that’s attached to the cheekbone starts to descend downward with it, resulting in a tired and older look.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The doctor will numb the area with a topical anaesthetic and wait 30 minutes for it to work before starting the procedure. Using a fine needle they will then inject the fillers at varying levels under the skin to plump and lift it.

You’ll immediately see the results of your new lifted look. After the procedure, you might experience mild pain, a little bit of swelling, tenderness and bruising in the treated area, but this usually passes within a couple of days.

Patients should avoid aspirin-containing products or high-dosage vitamin E and Omega supplements for 10-days before the procedure to avoid bruising, which may occur especially after treatments of the lips and cheeks.

There is absolutely no downtime. Patients are permitted to use make-up immediately after the procedure and can resume whatever activities they had planned. Do however keep in mind that in some rare cases, mild bruising might occur and this could last for up to ten days.

  • Nasolabial folds (lines from the end of the nose to the end of the lips)
  • Perioral area (wrinkles around the lips)
  • Wrinkles of the cheeks
  • Marionette lines (lines from the corners of the mouth to the jawline, accentuating the downturn of the mouth)
  • Lip augmentation defines lips that have become thin and wrinkled
  • Volume replacement for tear-trough deformity: hollow under-eye circles, hollow cheeks, cheek-lift, brow-lift
  • Re-sculpting and strengthening of the jawline by lessening the effect of sagging and jowl occurrence

Most patients resume their normal activities within 2-4 days, after the mild pain and swelling have faded. Patients should however allow 10 days to fully recover.

Dermal procedures can be combined with other procedures and one of the most popular for patients is the combination with anti-wrinkle injections.

This depends on the type of filler used. Hyaluronic Acid Fillers can last between 6 and 18 months while others can last for as long as 5 years.
