Down Turned Mouth

The cause of a down-turned mouth often lies in the muscles attached to the corners of your mouth (the Anguli Oris muscle). Loss of volume and structure in the soft tissues that support your mouth can also lead to a down-turned mouth. Women and men tend to lose volume in their face as they age.

Both men and women may also develop upper and lower lip wrinkles, and have drooping corners of the mouth as the aging process develops. The result is often a sad or uneasy appearance of the lips, the “mouth frown” or marionette line, which is a clear indication of loss of elasticity.
