WARTS
Common warts appear as small, grainy skin growths that are caused by viruses in the human papillomavirus, or HPV, family and are transmitted by touch. They can occur all over the body but are common the fingers or hands.Â
The HPV invades the outer layer of skin (usually through an existing injury such as a cut) and it causes a rapid growth of cells on the outer layer of skin. It can take a wart up to 6 months to develop after the skin has been exposed to the HPV.Â
They are usually harmless and eventually disappear on their own however many people choose to remove them because they find them bothersome or unattractive.
