SEBACEOUS HYPERPLASIA
Sebaceous glands are located all over our bodies. They produce sebum and create a thin greasy layer on the surface of the skin. Sebaceous hyperplasia happens when these sebaceous glands become enlarged and trapped with sebum.Â
Sebaceous hyperplasia can affect both men and women, although it is most frequently apparent on middle-aged men. It causes yellowish or flesh-coloured shiny bumps on the surface of the skin. The bumps are usually quite small (2-4 mm wide) and appear on the face (common areas are on the nose or forehead) and although these bumps are harmless, many people choose to get rid of them for cosmetic reasons.Â
